Making Tax Digital requires that from 1 April 2019 all VAT-registered businesses with a taxable turnover above the VAT registration threshold (currently £85,000) are to submit their VAT returns with HMRC digitally, using MTD compatible software (see our article on MTD for more details).

There are many accounting software packages on the market with some of the most popular being Xero, WorkflowMax, Directli and QuickBooks.
